Montgomery County Emergency Services District No. 8
breaks ground on the construction of the new fire station.

The District held a ground breaking ceremony on September 18, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. The location of the new
station is 29240 Birnham Woods Dr., just north of Riley Fuzzel Road.

This will be the first new facility that the District has built since Station 1 was constructed in the early 1980's
and it will be replacing the current Station 2, located on Rayford Road, which was built in the late 1970's.
The new station will be manned by professional fire fighters 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.

The District has been working with KAHickman Architects and interior Designers of Round Rock, Texas
to design a modern, functional fire station that will service the residents and businesses of the District for
many years into the future. Some of the features of the new station include emergency backup generation
capable of powering the entire station, making the facility self sufficient during power outages, a radio communications system that will provide the Fire Department with reliable communications across the
District, even during disasters. Further, a retention pond has been designed to provide a water source for
landscape irrigation as well as on-site training exercises. This unique feature enables the District's efficient
use of resources as well as promotes environmental sensitivity.

Teal Construction Company of Houston, Texas is the general contractor and Jones & Carter, Inc. of
The Woodlands, Texas is the civil engineer for the project.

Montgomery County Emergency Services No. 8 provides emergency fire and medical first responder
services to approximately 40,000 residents and businesses of southern Montgomery County. These services
are provided through the District operated fire department, South Montgomery County Fire Department.
The District Commissioners are George Biernesser, James Kelly, Rodney Otto, John Rodriguez,
and Andy Walters.
